Auction Buying Guide
The information below should tell you what you need to know about buying with Paul Beighton Auctioneers. If you require more information please don't hesitate to contact us.
Buyer's Premium
A buyer's premium of 20% is payable on the hammer price of each lot purchased. VAT is charged on the premium only. There are additional charges for online bidding.
Inspection of Lots
Intending purchasers are in all cases solely responsible for determining the condition of lots prior to bidding, Paul Beighton Auctioneers Ltd do not guarantee that there are no defects or imperfections which have not been referred to in the lot description. You can make an appointment for Friday prior to the sale.
Condition Reports
If you find it difficult to view the sale, there will be a specialist on hand to deal with your queries. We will endeavor to give accurate reports using the naked eye only. Paul Beighton Auctioneers Ltd will not be held accountable for any flaws undetected during this service. Intending buyers must reach their own conclusions regarding condition.
Different Methods of Bidding

Online Bidding
You can bid online from our own website, Easylive Auction or the-saleroom. You will need an account beforehand and please note charges will apply and are different on each platform.
- In person at the saleroom

Commission bid
We can bid on your behalf. Please let us have the lot number, a brief description of the lot and the maximum hammer price you are prepared to pay. We also need your name, full postal address and telephone numbers.

Over the telephone
You may wish to bid over the telephone if you cannot bid online and do not wish to leave a commission bid. A member of staff will telephone you two or three lots prior to the one you wish to bid on and bid on behalf of you on instruction. To book a line please contact us with your name, telephone number and required lot number via phone or e-mail. Please remember that we have a limited amount of telephone lines so in order to avoid disappointment book as early as possible. Telephone bids are only accepted on items estimated over £100.
Methods of Payment
Currently we only accept bank transfer, pay by link via the email invoice you receive or card payments over the telephone. For the latter the invoice total must be below £500.
Collection of lots
You or your chosen courier can collect from the saleroom once your invoice has been settled. You must make an appointment to do so beforehand, admittance to the building cannot be granted without an appointment.
- Storage charges after Friday sale week £5 per lot/per week.
- Items not collected within 3 months of the sale will be re-sold.
Postage and Packing
