A Chelsea plate, Duke of Cambridge.
A Chelsea plate from the Duke of Cambridge service with lobbed edge and turquoise rim. Having a border of five moulded panels heightened with blue and gold scroll work and containing insects. Further decorated with gilt featherwork and painted to the centre with a bold spray of fruit and leaves including a sliced pear, grapes and strawberries. Red anchor mark c1765. 9" diameter.
Notes; A large part of this service was sold at Christies, 8th June 1904 upon the death of the 2nd Duke of Cambridge.
