A Japanese early Meiji period hiramaki lacquer box and cover of rectangular form. Profusely inlaid with a Shibayama millefiori pattern in mother of pearl, coral and ivory to depict overlapping peonies, chrysanthemum and blossom. Signed inside the cover, 15.5cm x 12cm.
