A fine 19th century French Japanese-style (Japonaise) lacquered brass repeating carriage clock by A. Dumas. With faux bamboo column supports and three komei type bronze overlay panels, the sides depict figures at various pursuits and the dial mask is ornamented with a swan. With silvered dial under a copper slip and having black enamel Roman numeral markers. Housing an 8 day movement with platform escapement striking half hourly on a gong and with repeating mechanism. Makers stamp A. D. underneath the case, 19.5cm high including the handle extended, 10.75cm wide, 10cm deep.
