A fine Japanese Meiji period carved ivory okimono. Formed from a single piece depicting in great detail an old man inserting a candle into a paper lantern. With a cloth bandana and cape over a hooded tunic and with a pair of sandals strung around his waist. Raised on an oval pad base carved to the underside with a chrysanthemum flower. 11" high.
